Program Description

This program aims at producing scholars who are expert and competent in Islamic family law field of studies. It is designed to integrate Islamic juristic and theoretical knowledge with contemporary disciplines of studies. It provides learners with in-depth knowledge in the area of contemporary Islamic family law field of studies to deal with the demands and challenges faced by Islam and Muslims in the modern world.

Entry Requirement

Candidates must fulfil the following requirements:

• University’s General Requirements:

1. A bachelor’s degree in law or Shariah with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 out of 4.0 or an equivalent qualification recognized by the UiTM Senate, or;
2. A bachelor’s degree in law or Shariah with a CGPA of less than 2.50 out of 4.0 or an equivalent qualification subject to a minimum of 5 years of work experience.

• Specific Programme Requirements:

1. Candidates are required to complete a total of 42 credit hours. This includes core programme courses and faculty-required courses (36 credit hours) as well as a research project (6 credit hours).

Full Time: 1 1/2 – 3 years (3-6 semesters)

Part Time: 2 – 4 years (4 -8 semesters)

MASTERS IN CONTEMPORARY ISLAMIC STUDIES (RESEARCH MODE) - (IC780)

Program Description

The programme is aimed at producing scholars who are expert and competent in Contemporary Islamic Studies. It is designed to integrate Islamic juristic and theoretical knowledge with contemporary disciplines of studies. Areas of research available include contracts and transactions (muamalat), Islamic economics, Islamic banking and finance, Shari’ah and law, Islamic law and judicial system, halal, Islamic civilization, Islamic thought, comparative religion, Islamic education and management, and Islamic administration and management.

The Master’s programme is entirely research-based. It provides a comprehensive training in research to produce original work in the form of thesis. The expected length of the thesis / dissertation should not exceed 60,000 words and it can be written in English or Malay or Arabic. All postgraduate candidates are required to attend courses in research methodology and thesis writing organised by Institute of Graduate Studies (IPSis). Candidate may also require to attend a pre-requisite courses conducted by ACIS.

Entry Requirement

1. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from UiTM or any institution of higher learning recognised by the UiTM Senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent; or
2. Other qualifications in a relevant field, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree recognised by the UiTM Senate.
3. Each candidate must submit a research proposal describing the areas he or she would embark on.
4. The acceptance of a candidate shall be at the discretion of the UiTM Senate, whose decision shall be final.

MASTER IN MUAMALAT (COURSEWORK) - IC701

Program Description

This program aims at producing graduates who are fully equipped with advanced knowledge and skills in muamalat and the necessary aptitude to meet job specifications. Besides, graduate will have ability to analyse current issues with muamalat knowledge so as to provide suitable solutions and alternatives to significant problems. They will also have skills in applying theories and principles of muamalat in relevant areas.

Entry Requirement

Candidates must fulfil the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Muamalat or Islamic Finance or any relevant fields from university recognised by UiTM with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent. 
• Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Muamalat or Islamic Finance or any relevant fields from university recognised by UiTM with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 and 5 years working experience in related fields.
• Candidate without Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Muamalat or Islamic Finance or any relevant fields must undergo pre -requisite courses as follows:

• Fulfill Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) admission process for Master’s Degree in related area.
• Other entry requirements that in line with the procedures required by Institute of Graduate Studies (IPSIS) and UiTM.

Mode and Duration

Full Time: 1 1/2 – 3 years (3 – 6 semester)

Part Time: 2 – 4 years (4 - 8 semester)

Program Structure
